We took Daisy to the emergency vet clinic last night at 11:30. The day before yesterday I noticed she was having trouble using the bathroom. She would squat down and nothing would happen, and she would just sorta scoot around in a squat and then give up. I didn’t worry too much about it because she has gotten constipated before, but then yesterday I noticed some blood on the fur on her backside. So we took her to the clinic last night and they said she has Hemorrhagic gastrointestinitis.

They also gave us a $600 treatment plan, which we refused, and Mr. Melbell took her to our vet this morning. They gave her the same diagnosis but with a much cheaper treatment plan. She will have to have a special “milder” diet for an unknown amount of time and I think some medicines…antibiotics or something. They are also going to x-ray her abdomen to make sure nothing is stuck in there.

I have been reading everything I can find and it all says that if you catch it in time it will be fine, but if left untreated it would have killed her. The vet said she probably has been having some pretty severe stomach cramps and that makes me sad. I wish they could just tell us when they are hurting. I think that Konst knew because yesterday he was being very loud and obnoxious all day long…like he was trying to get our attention…now I guess we know why!

Anyway, the kicker for all of this is that today is her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY YOU HAVE AN INTESTINAL DISEASE THAT MIGHT RECUR FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! HOORAY!!!

Last night Mr. Melbell and I were just so exhausted from the puppy…we decided to throw caution to the wind and see how he would do in his crate while we went to dinner and a movie. I mean, don’t get me wrong, we didn’t get any enjoyment from it at all…we only did it as an experiment! :P

Anyway, we went and saw Mr. Brooks. Now, if anyone ever reads my “movie reviews” that I post every now and then, you will know that I’m usually very critical of movies…and that’s because most of them are horrid…this movie is the best movie I have seen in quite a while. It’s the first original idea to come out of Hollywierd in eleventy million years. It’s a tad bit gory as they show several of the murders but if you aren’t bothered by stuff like that then I HIGHLY recommend this movie.

And as for the puppy, he did just fine in his crate…well I’m sure he whined and threw a fit but what do we care? We didn’t have to listen to it!! :D

We took Konst to meet Mr. Melbell’s mom and grandpa yesterday. He behaved much better than I expected. He only piddled on the carpet one little time and it wasn’t his full bladder’s worth, just a little spot.

He jumped around under Grandpa’s feet a little but other than that he was pretty good.

He and Daisy are having a power struggle over who’s the boss and it was much more muted there than it is at home…probably because she wants to claim her house and he’s trying to take over…but at Grandpa’s house she doesn’t have any territorial claim to it. At home they will just go at it for hours if we let them, but yesterday Mr. Melbell’s mom had them pretty well distracted with treats and affection! :)

Well, yesterday afternoon we got in the permanant crate for Konst. Mr. Melbell put it together and this thing is so huge. It’s big enough for a person to sleep in…comfortably probably.

So far he isn’t doing very well in his crate. He starts out just whining but then it escalates into a full blown temper tantrum in no time flat. And it’s happening every single time we put him in the crate…it’s quite loud and obnoxious…but I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

We don’t have any big plans for today. We are both off work for the 4th so we will probably go take the dog to meet Mr. Melbell’s mom and grandpa. Other than that we will probably just hang out here and play with the puppy and try to get him settled in some more.
